The presentation of the Russian part of the joint event plan was held within the framework of the EU-Russia Year of science 2014 on January 23.
The main idea of the event with such a symbolic title “Meet Russia” is to specify the principal fields for development and strengthening of the scientific and technical partnership between both countries.
Veniamin Kaganov, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the Russian Federation has taken the lead of the Russian delegation.
The delegation consisted of Evgeny Ugrinovich, the Head of the Department of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, Anna Usacheva, Head of Public and Regional Policy Department, Sergei Polyakov, General Director of the Fund for Assistance to Small Innovative Enterprises in Science and Technology, Ivan Ulanov, First Deputy Director General of the “Forum of innovations” Fund, Olga Zinovieva, Adviser for international affairs, All-Russia Festival of science, Vyacheslav Shevtsov, vice-rector for research and development, “Моscow Aviation Institute (national research university)”, Dmitry Ivanov, Head of the youth science development Center, The Finance and Technology Academy.
Vladimir Chizhov, Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the European Union and the European Atomic Energy Community and Konstantinos Glinos, Head of unit of the International Cooperation, General Directorate for Research and Innovation of European Committee, made a welcome speech to the event participants.
Veniamin Kaganov, leader of the delegation, presented the key-note report regarding state support for technology and science development of the Russian Federation. “The EU-Russia Year of science, which we opened in Moscow last year, is quite full of events. We called our today’s event “Meet Russia” for a good reason” – he noted. “For the fruitful development of our relationship it is very important to have a good imagination of the opportunities of both parts. In our case – it’s a scientific-technological opportunity of the Russian Federation, infrastructure and financial potential of our state for the creation of new conditions for scientific researches. Internationalization is the top trend of the nowadays big science. It doesn’t matter what language a group of researches speaks, it does matter the language of science” – emphasized Kaganov.
The delegates presented with great éclat to the audience the most meaningful international projects, which were included in the Plan according to the proposal of the Russian part.
